Thanks to the generosity of several major sponsors, the financial situation is very favourable. There are a couple of items which are still on the waiting list for finance. Donations or sponsorship to cover these items would be very welcome.

WoA has paid-off its debt to the Scottish Gliding Centre,
whose members had kindly put money "Up Front" from Club funds, to
meet initial needs. There is still a need for around £8,000 per year to cover operating and maintenance costs, and donations towards
this would be very much appreciated. Currently, the operating costs are
being offset by way of charging flying fees. These fees do not, however,
cover all expenditure, and in any case it would be more charitable if the
facility could be provided free of flying-time charges.
As
well as money, the organisation needs willing people to keep things running.
Particularly pilots with a knowledge of glider operations to assist in
launching. And, of course, BGA Full-Cat Instructors willing to give
their time to the training of the disabled.
At weekends, finding helpers is not usually so difficult. During the week it can be more of a problem, and any gliding-types who can turn up on weekdays when disabled people want to fly would be very welcome.
As a very rough guide to what your money can do:
(This is not meant to be taken literally as a price list !)
Six pounds will launch WA1 to 1000 feet - High enough to start hill soaring.
Fifteen pounds will pay for a much higher aerotow launch.-Often necessary for wave flying.
Twenty pounds will pay for a typical hour's instructional flying.
Forty pounds will pay for a longer cross-country or high-altitude flight.
A hundred pounds will pay for a day's intensive instructional flying.
Three hundred will pay for the flying costs on a typical residential Course.
A thousand will cover the fifty-or-so flights needed
to train a typical pilot to solo standard.
